Rodel is seeking to hire several Grow Your Own Teaching Assistants
Position Description
Rodel is seeking several education students to serve as teaching assistants for an innovative and fun dual enrollment course happening across multiple high schools. This course will occur January through April, two afternoons a week for 15 weeks.
Selected teacher assistants will work with professors to deliver a course that introduces, encourages, and empowers students to consider the field of education as their future career. The Changemaker Course is designed to center student voice and teach students the power of individual and collective voice to lead for institutional and systemic change. In this course, the instructors and students imagine what teaching and classrooms could be versus what they have been and build skill sets to inspire these spaces.
What You’ll Do
- Encourage your own growth by attending online trainings and PLCs
- Inspire students by helping to deliver a socially just and culturally responsive educator prep curriculum during after-school hours
- Center students by adapting/scaffolding the curriculum based on student needs and recommendations
- Prioritize joy by showing students what learning can be
- Share your story and mentor high school students
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Current or recent graduate from a Delaware Education Prep Program
- Experience attending DE public school preferred
- Desire to inspire and empower secondary students
- Commitment to centering work on the needs of students and educators
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through, modeling inclusive behaviors and proactively managing bias
- A desire to self-reflect, give and receive feedback, and continuously improve
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: annual stipend of $5,000
- Gain classroom experience
- Gain mentorship from experienced educators
- Opportunity to serve as mentor to high school students
Logistics:
- In-person at Delaware high school (to be determined this fall)
- At minimum four hours of in-person instruction, weekly, between January – April
- Biweekly professional learning via Zoom
