Vice President
Kia is a native Delawarean and earned her Master of Education at Columbia University Teachers College. In her current role of Vice President (focused on Programs and Strategy), Kia is responsible for Rodel’s overall programmatic efforts including managing technical assistance efforts with state, district, higher education partners, and employers, particularly within Rodel’s focus on teacher diversity, recruitment and retention. Additionally, she manages the implementation of the organization’s strategic plan, including performance monitoring strategic priorities, monitoring and leading efforts to strengthen the organizational culture, and ensuring Rodel’s equity commitment comes to life in the organization’s everyday practices. She was previously Rodel’s Program Director.
For several years, Kia served as Partnership Manager and consultant on equity and access for K-12 districts across the country. She co-authored an equity and leadership framework and led the strategic planning process for one of the largest school districts in the nation. At her core, Kia is a passionate educator and has served as a secondary English Language Arts Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, and charter school Executive Director. In addition to her M.Ed., Kia is an alumnus of Teach for America and holds a B.S. in Marketing from Hampton University.
