Our Radical World

The reflection is a guest blog post from Laurisa Schutt, a member of our Advisory Council, and Executive Director of Teach For America-Delaware

James Foley died a horrific death this week in the Middle East where he had been missing since November, 2012. Foley was a journalist on the front lines, unafraid to expose the realities of combat. He was also a Teach For America alum from 1996 in Phoenix, AR, a fact that made his death feel more personal. In a week where the escalation of racial violence in reaction to Mike Brown’s death in Ferguson, St. Louis continues to provoke rage, I wonder when and how we say enough is enough.
