Two Great Events on College & Career Readiness
When it comes to preparing students for success after high school, Delaware is making some great strides.
This time next week, a gathering of school, business, and community leaders from throughout the state will assemble for two great events focused on the efforts underway.
First up is the 2nd Annual DE Pathways Conference, 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Delaware Tech Stanton Campus (register here). The Delaware Pathways Conference will bring together local and national thought leaders to discuss the work underway across the state that’s equipping young Delawareans with the knowledge, skills, and experience to successfully transition to high-growth, high-demand occupations.
Programming includes:
- An update on the “Delaware Promise” by Governor Jack Markell
- Keynote address on “Attracting, Educating, and Deploying the 21st Century Workforce” by Jamie Merisotis, president and CEO of Lumina Foundation, one of the largest private foundations in the United States, whose mission is to increase the percentage of Americans with high-quality postsecondary degrees, certificates and other credentials to 60 percent by 2025.
- And a panel discussion highlighting Delaware pathways, including conversations with local students, business leaders, and educators.
Immediately after the conference, stick around for the 2nd Annual College Success Report Release and School Recognition Ceremony from 12:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. also at the Delaware Tech Stanton Campus (register here).
This event will highlight Delaware’s progress and action taken by schools and districts since the first College Success Reports were released last year. As a reminder, these reports focus on college enrollment figures, as well as remediation rates.
Programming will include awards and recognition of schools and districts who have taken action to improve college readiness, a facilitated discussion led by Mike Cohen of Achieve, Inc. with school leaders to discuss how we can build on successes to scale statewide, and the official release of the 2nd annual College Success Reports.
