After much anticipation, the changes outlined in Race to the Top are becoming concrete as the DOE awards contracts to various organizations – representing an unprecedented opportunity for all interested to get involved in education reform throughout Delaware. 

The Delaware Department of Education recently awarded the Data Coach contract to Wireless Generation.  Wireless currently serves over 200,000 educators and 3 million students through various initiatives aimed at increasing the ability of teachers to engage in data-driven instruction.  They are currently hiring an initial cohort of Data Coaches to begin this spring along with a Data Coach Project Manager.  They will hire the remaining data coaches throughout the spring to start training over the summer.

The New Teacher Project is currently seeking a Site Manager and Program Operations Manager to lead the Delaware Teaching Fellows program, which will recruit college graduates and mid-career professionals to teach in high-need subject areas in our lowest-performing schools.  The New Teacher Project has worked in over 30 states and 200 districts to provide the neediest students the best teachers and by advancing policies and practices that ensure effective teaching in every classroom.

Teach For America is currently looking for an Executive Director and Operations Associate as they break off from the Mid-Atlantic region (Philadelphia/Camden) and launch a stand-alone Delaware site.  Teach For America recruits recent college graduates to teach in our neediest urban/rural schools for two years.  Teach For America currently has approximately 40 corps members teaching throughout the Wilmington area.

EastSide Charter School in Wilmington, Delaware, seeks a Head of School to begin with the 2011-2012 school year. The Head of School is the chief executive officer, responsible for both the academic program and the business operations of the School.
