This is a guest blog post written by Robert Ford, Director of Corporate Engagement for the Delaware Business Roundtable Education Committee.

SPARC (Success Pathways and Roads to Careers) is an online platform designed to help students, youth and adults connect with local employers, gain first-hand knowledge of the workplace and develop career and college readiness skills.

Launching next week at seven pilot schools (Howard High School of Technology, Charter School of Wilmington, McKean High School, Appoquinimink High School, Central Middle School, Dover High School, and Sussex Technical High School), SPARC provides a window into Delaware’s workplaces and the careers that they offer, engaging and inspiring young adults to develop personal career goals and embark on their pathways to career success. Already, almost 100 companies of all sizes and from across the state have become SPARC Workplace Partners, with over 200 employees and community volunteers serving as Career Coaches, and offering over 150 Work-Based Learning Activities such as guest speakers, company tours, job shadows, and internships.

Next week, there are two opportunities to learn more about SPARC, with SPARC Expo events on:

  • November 12th from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at the Delmarva Power Conference Center in Newark (4100 S. Wakefield Drive), and
  • November 14th from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at Wilmington University in Dover (3282 N. DuPont Highway).

The events will showcase SPARC’s capabilities, share best practices, and provide practical advice to employers on how to get started.
